I’m nowhere near the John Carpenter fan or apologist Jay is, but I’m a pretty big fan, especially of the early material. yet I still haven’t gotten around to everything yet. I picked up Prince of Darkness FINALLY today and will watch it ASAP, and will still have to get to Starman and some other films. I’d only seen parts of POD on late night TV, enough to get the reference Jay used in his recent Norwegian doc.

Funny that Halloween is maybe one of his most well regarded of that time, yet its my least favorite. or maybe thats common. Jay would know.

Completely agree with your review. I’ve watch this film countless times, it’s one of my top horror films of all time.
I just wish JC would/could make some new horror films.

The dream sequence sounds like that voice of starscream clip.

I have been interested in buying the movie, but it was always listed at full price, and I don’t buy older stuff at full price on principle. So I’m waiting to find it at a cheaper rate, because even though I find horror childish and boring, I have really liked all of the John Carpenter movies I have seen.

Awesome review Jay. I recently picked this movie up on DVD and the transfer is pretty damn good. This movie definitely needs a Carpenter commmentary though.
