Dexter Season 1 on DVD in August

The best new TV show of last year is coming to DVD this summer. That’s right I’m talking about Showtime’s Dexter — screw that Heroes crap! Paramount Home Entertainment has given us a release date, artwork and specs for the first season of this dark, comedic and gripping series based on the novel by Jeff Linsday. Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under) stars as a blood spatter specialist for the Miami Police who just happens to be a serial killer in his spare time… albeit one with “morals”.

The DVD set will feature all 12 episodes, plus the following extras:
- Cast audio commentary on 2 episodes
- The Academy of Blood: A Killer Course featurette
- 2 episodes of Showtime’s Brotherhood

Putting a few episodes of other shows on the DVD is something new… it sounds like a great way to turn people on to new programs. Personally I can’t wait for season 2 of Dexter to start, most likely sometime in the fall. Dexter: The First Season hits stores on August 21st.

  1. Personally I wish there were a few more special features, and in a perfect world I’d like to have commentaries on every episode, but I’ll take what I can get. Dexter is currently my favorite show, and if the second season continues to deliver, could very well become my favorite show of all time. Also, if the second season follows the second novel, we’re in for some very disturbing imagery. I personally can’t wait.

  2. This is great news! I’ll have to put it on the calendar.

  3. now this is something that i have been waiting for. i definitely going to rent it when it comes out. that is unless if Showcase is going to air, i will watch then.
