My Name Is Earl Plans Special Scratch and Sniff Episode

I’m a big fan of Jason Lee, but unfortunately I have yet to get on board his current NBC sitcom My Name is Earl. The show has received a lot of glowing reviews, but what can I say… there’s just too much other good stuff on TV right now! Here’s a little gimmick they’re planning that could actually get me to sit down and watch an episode, however. Next month they will air a special episode that will assault our sense of smell using the age old technology of “scratch and sniff” cards! This kind of reminds me of that time Married with Children did an episode that required 3D glasses. I’m not sure if the show has been falling in the ratings at all lately, but apparently they’ve experimented with a few other gimmicks this season including Claymation and a Cops parody (the X-Files episode that was shot in the Cops style was genius by the way). The scratch and sniff cards will be inserted in an upcoming issue of TV Guide, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled. One can only hope other shows will follow suit… who wouldn’t love to inhale the fumes of paper products from Dunder Mifflin? The episode is entitled “Get A Real Job” and will air on May 3 at 8 pm EST on NBC.

  1. I’ve never seen an episode of the show but the scratch and sniff sounds promising…if it’s on the right night, I may actually sit down to watch it!

  2. I thought TV Guide was no longer a printed publication and only available online. At least that’s been the case in Canada since last year. How are we supposed to get our scratch and sniffs?
