Trailer for Lars von Trier’s The Boss Of It All

Danish director Lars von Trier is known for his controversial and often bleak subject matter; from Dancer In The Dark to Dogville to Manderlay he has certainly proven that he refuses to play by Hollywood’s rules. For his next film, however, he is going in a completely different direction. The Boss Of It All is a workplace comedy about the boss of an I.T. firm. When the boss decides he wants to sell the company, he runs into some trouble after the buyers ask to negotiate with the company president (who, it turns out, is just a fictional person that he created to blame unpopular decisions on). Although von Trier claims to have never seen The Office, it certainly sounds like this is his take on the show (with some similarities to Mike Judge’s Office Space as well). The Boss Of It All is being distributed in North America by IFC Films, and opens in select theatres on May 23rd. 1. This movie was panned by critics, and I never got around to seeing it. I’m not the biggest Lars Von Trier fan, my favourite movie of his was Breaking the Waves and that was a while ago.

  2. I thought the trailer looked pretty funny!
