David Goyer to Put Green Arrow Behind Bars

Well after being ousted from The Flash project at Warner Bros, David S. Goyer has already found his way back into the thick of another comic book movie. This one’s a little different though, and I’m curious to see what fanboys have to say about it. His new flick is tentatively called Super Max, and on the surface it focuses on Green Arrow getting wrongly convicted and sent away to a special prison for supervillains. But hold on now… that’s only the first 10 minutes!

Once he’s in prison he is stripped of his costume and must find a way to escape by teaming up with some bad guys, and avoid getting offed at the same time. “We’ve populated the prison with all sorts of B and C villains from the DC Universe. For the fans, there will be all sorts of characters the hardcore comic book junkies will know, but they’re all going to be there under their human names and no one is wearing a costume, but there will be a lot of characters with powers and things like that.” So basically it’s Oz meets Prison Break meets Heroes? Sounds like it should be a TV series to me. I guess the idea of a prison for people with super powers is kind of interesting, but Green Arrow is not the most compelling character to base it on in my opinion. Goyer is co-writing with Justin Marx. What do you think, cool idea or just plain silly?

  1. Green Arrow without a bow and arrows sounds pretty dumb to me. I don’t care at all about this, David S. Goyer has totally run his course for me.

  2. Hollywood seems to screw up super hero movies more often than not, so how is it a good idea to start making up new concepts based on established characters when they can’t even make a good film by following the stories in the original books?
