Full Trailer for 28 Weeks Later

Since Sunshine got pushed back to December, anyone looking for a Danny Boyle/Alex Garland fix might consider turning their attention to the upcoming 28 Days Later sequel, 28 Weeks Later instead. But don’t be fooled… Boyle and Garland served as only executive producers on this film, and there has been little indication that it will be on the same level as its precursor. 28 Weeks Later is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Intacto) and written by Fresnadillo, Rowan Joffe and Jesús Olmo.

Now I’m a bit torn on this one because I loved the original 28 Days Later (yes, even the final act with the soldiers), though I do think they could have done more with the post-apocalyptic setting. I’ve heard good things about Intacto, and yet I am still unable to see this as anything more than a generic knockoff (Cillian Murphy is also notably absent). The new trailer hasn’t done much to win me over. Sure, the shots of deserted London streets are cool as hell, but the rest of the movie feels like clumsy direct to video fare. I don’t know that I need to see this scenario continued with a bunch of different characters. Check out the trailer over at Apple and see if you think it’s worth your money. 28 Weeks Later is out on May 11th.

  1. Trailer looks pretty good. It’ll be cool to see
the outbreak part of the story that wasn’t shown
in the original. I hope the original survivors make a cameo.

  2. I was definitely curious about this flick (I loved 28 Days Later), and this trailer only makes me more excited. Come on people – it has Robert Carlyle, and zombies. What more could you want?

Begbie vs. Rage? I give 10 to 1 odds on Begbie.
