Monday Morning Box Office Report: March 12, 2007
Tonight we dine in hell! 2007 has its first official blockbuster, and it is Zack Snyder’s adaptation of the Frank Miller graphic novel 300. On some level I’m pretty shocked that it made $70 million, but on the other hand it had a great marketing campaign. I’m just curious how much of the audience was made up of hardcore comic fans. Wild Hogs also had another strong weekend (did you know that it was John Travolta’s biggest opening movie ever?). Bridge To Terabithia, Ghost Rider and Zodiac rounded out the top 5.
1. 300 — $70M
2. Wild Hogs — $28M
3. Bridge to Terabithia — $6.87M
4. Ghost Rider — $6.8M
5. Zodiac — $6.77M
6. Norbit — $4.31M
7. The Number 23 — $4.2M
8. Music and Lyrics — $3.83M
9. Breach — $2.61M
10. Amazing Grace — $2.53M

No surprise there. Except for the fact the Wild Hogs actually stayed on the list. And at #2 none the less. Wow.
