First Image from the Star Wars CGI Animated Series
Ever since Star Wars Episode III was released, George Lucas has been busy talking up a pair of Star Wars TV shows that are on the horizon. One of the shows was revealed to be a live action series that takes place in the time period between Episodes III and IV, while the other would be another Clone Wars animated series. What I didn’t realize at the time is that the new Clone Wars animated series would be done with 3D rather than traditional animation. Over at StarWars.com, they’ve got a first look at the new CGI Yoda, and it looks like a cross between the Yoda that appeared in the prequel trilogy, and the stylized look of the Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars animated shorts. There’s also an audio interview with George Lucas where he talks a bit more about the project. In typical Lucas form he says they’re going to “push the boundaries”, “breaking all the rules”, and “there’s nothing on television quite like this”, but the thing that caught me off-guard is that he referred to the show as a “smart ass comedy with lots of contemporary humour”. So basically… Spaceballs? Personally I’m a lot more interested in the live action show, but Lucas says that one is still a few years away.
