Promo Trailer for Hal Hartley’s Fay Grim

I don’t know too much about Hal Hartley except to say that he’s a New York-based independent filmmaker with a strong cult following. I have yet to see any of his movies, and in fact, he seems to lack that one breakthrough film that would truly earn him widespread recognition. If anything, his most notable movie would probably be 1997’s Henry Fool, and now he has returned to continue the story with his latest movie, Fay Grim. It stars Parker Posey and Jeff Goldblum (which really is more than enough to capture my attention) and it premiered last year at the Toronto Film Festival. The wife of an award-winning poet turned fugitive is pressured by the C.I.A. to locate his notebooks as they believe he concealed government secrets. A trailer for the movie has appeared online and although the trailer itself looks a bit rough, the actual footage and the performances seem quite intriguing if I do say so myself. Fay Grim opens in select theatres on May 18th.
