Production Art and Casting Details for Prince of Persia Movie
Last week I posted about the big plans that Disney have in store for the upcoming Prince of Persia: Sands of Time movie. To summarize: they want to turn it into a Pirates of the Caribbean-style blockbuster franchise. All that’s been confirmed so far is that Jerry Bruckheimer will be producing, but now it seems we have some information about casting for the film. While this is by no means official, it looks as though Australian actor Charlie Clausen (McLeod’s Daughters, Dead and Buried) has a lock on the lead role as the Prince. Can you really build a blockbuster franchise without a major star in the lead role? I suppose we’re about to find out.
On a related note, /Film got a hold of some production art from the movie (along with a handful of other upcoming Disney movies). Although it’s nothing more than concept work, it does look quite impressive and really gives an idea of the scale they’re shooting for. I have to admit I’m getting kind of psyched for this flick now, but I’ll still need to hear the name of a decent director mentioned before I can possibly believe this will be the first ever video game movie that doesn’t suck!
