Trailer for Talk To Me Starring Don Cheadle
Nowadays we probably forget what it was like for a radio DJ to be a significant cultural figure (okay, maybe Howard Stern still counts, although his audience sure ain’t what it used to be) but back in the day, local DJs could be a major influence on a lot of people. Don Cheadle is starring in the upcoming biopic Talk To Me, about Ralph Waldo “Petey” Greene, an ex-con and drug addict who became a well-known radio personality in Washington, D.C. in the 60’s. He was a major voice for the civil rights movement and helped popularize soul music, among other things. Okay, so it’s no Pump Up The Volume, but it seems like an interesting enough story. Talk To Me co-stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Martin Sheen, Cedric the Entertainer and Taraji P. Henson, and is directed by Kasi Lemmons (The Caveman’s Valentine). I saw the trailer and this movie looks amazing! I think “Pump up the Volume” could only dream of being a movie like this one.
