Grey’s Anatomy Spin-Off In The Works
Grey’s Anatomy has been one of the surprise television success stories of the past few years. After debuting as a mid-season replacement in 2005, it quickly caught on and became one of ABC’s most popular shows. I suppose I understand the appeal to a certain extent; it seems to be a mix of E.R. with a Desperate Housewives-esque dark sense of humour and an over-the-top soap opera love story. That said, I personally can’t stand the damn show, but I guess it could be because I’m a guy. Every 5 seconds they have to insert another heart-felt pop song, and it just gets very distracting.
Now when something is as successful as Grey’s Anatomy, you know that TV networks like to double down, which means (you guessed it!) a Grey’s Anatomy spin-off series is in the works. The pilot episode will be a two hour Grey’s Anatomy special that airs in May, depicting Dr. Addison Shepherd’s departure from the Seattle Grace Hospital. The new series will co-star Taye Diggs (Day Break), and the pilot is being directed by Michael Grossman (Charmed, Angel, Enterprise). Grey’s Anatomy is the new CSI.
