Trailer for Horror Film The Signal Now Playing

We’ve been hearing a lot of positive buzz about the horror film The Signal coming out of Sundance this year, and now that I’ve seen the trailer, my interest has been piqued as well. The movie is an indie production from the three-way writing/directing team of David Bruckner, Dan Bush, and Jacob Gentry, about a strange transmission that spreads through the city of Terminus via TV, radio and cell phones, turning people into mindless psychotic killers. It sounds quite similar to Stephen King’s Cell (in fact, I’m not even sure how they are avoiding a lawsuit here), but the thing I like about it is that it has that post-apocalyptic feel of 28 Days Later. Some of the acting in the trailer seemed a bit suspect, but aside from that I’m sold. Magnolia Pictures picked the movie up for U.S. distribution, and have set a release date of August 10th. Check out the trailer over at YouTube now (linked below).

  1. just so everyone knows, this film is not an imitation of stephen king’s cell. The movie began production before the book was published in 2006. Yes it has been over a year but the movie was orignally meant to be released in 2007 but couldn’t due to problems with a song that they planned on using in the film.

    so stop assuming you dumbfucks
