Kevin Smith To Take On A New Animated Project?
Kevin Smith fans will no doubt remember the ill-fated Clerks cartoon that aired on ABC in May of 2000. It only lasted 2 episodes before being cancelled, and I think it’s reasonable to say it was never really given a fair chance to catch on (let’s face it, even the worst TV shows seem to last at least 4 or 5 episodes before being dropped). I will admit that the show felt somewhat half-baked initially, but I think it had potential to turn into something better.
Strong DVD sales have since made up for the early cancellation, and for years Kevin Smith has been talking about doing another feature-length animated Clerks movie called Clerks Sell Out. Now this week in a mysterious post on the View Askew message board during his Sunday morning Q&A, he revealed that (and I quote): “‘Clerks Sell Out’ has been swapped out for a different straight-to-DVD cartoon flick.” Very interesting. Will it be a Bluntman & Chronic animated feature? Allow me throw out some even wilder speculation. Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill animated prequel? Or could it be (wait for it)… a computer-animated Ghostbusters 3? Not that I’d necessarily like to see that, but come on, it’s gotta be a possibility, right? What do you think this mystery project is?
On a related note, the second episode of the SModcast is now available for download.

It could very well be B&C. Such great characters never really had major exposure in the films.
