Full Trailer for The Hills Have Eyes 2 Online

You know the remake trend has gone on too long by the time get around to making sequels to the remakes. Alexandre Aja’s gripping remake of Wes Craven’s The Hills Have Eyes is about to get a follow-up flick in the form of The Hills Have Eyes 2, helmed by German director Martin Weisz (Rohtenburg). The story strays from Wes Craven’s original sequel, and follows a group of national guard trainees getting attacked by monstrous mutant humans in the New Mexico desert.

The first full trailer for the film has just gone online, and it hasn’t done much to grab me. Something about a bunch of soldiers being attacked doesn’t seem as frightening or horrific as the original; The Hills Have Eyes owed so much of its suspense to the bonds of the family unit that was being terrorized. This time around, it looks more like Aliens or something, with a bunch of well-armed military folks taking a stand against an unknown enemy. Don’t get me wrong, the film looks nice and all. It did look like a bit like they’re copying The Descent though, with those high-speed film action scenes a la Gladiator. Check out the trailer now over at Yahoo! and see what you think. The Hills Have Eyes 2 hits theatres on March 23rd.
