Aardman Confirms Wallace & Gromit Sequel

It should probably come as no real surprise, but with this week’s announcement that Aardman Studios and Dreamworks have officially ended their partnership, Aardman has already bounced back with talk of another Wallace & Gromit movie in the works. Spokesman Arthur Sheriff had this to say: “Wallace and Gromit are alive and kicking… It could be television, it could be a feature film. That depends on how the storyline develops. It will go into production as soon as he has finished writing it.” “He” is of course referring to Wallace & Gromit creator Nick Park. Sheriff failed to mention if the project will be a direct sequel to The Curse of the Were-Rabbit however. Aardman are probably hoping to attract interest for another studio partnership, although you’d think they’d be somewhat wary after their relationship with Dreamworks soured and Flushed Away flopped. They’re going to need something big if they want to return to the high point they had reached only a year ago when The Curse of the Were-Rabbit won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Either way, I’m glad to hear they will continue working on their own terms for the time being. The Aardman films have always been a nice alternative to all the other CGI crap being passed off as kids movies lately.
