Monday Morning Box Office Report: Jan. 29, 2006

Alright now, repeat after me: “we only have ourselves to blame”. I cannot believe that Epic Movie made $19 million this past weekend, and yet somehow it makes complete sense. These terrible spoof flicks are ridiculously easy to pump out, and they don’t even need to be funny to attract people’s attention! It’s no wonder people talk about the divide between movie critics and the average moviegoer… the #1 movie at the box office is currently sitting at an overwhelming 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. Joe Carnahan’s Smokin’ Aces also had a pretty good weekend, bringing in just over $14 million. Night At The Museum continues to hang on at #3 with $9.45 million. Catch and Release and Stomp the Yard rounded out this week’s top 5. Did you see any movies this past weekend?

1. Epic Movie — $19.2M
2. Smokin’ Aces — $14.3M
3. Night at the Museum — $9.45M
4. Catch and Release — $8M
5. Stomp the Yard — $7.8M
6. Dreamgirls — $6.62M
7. The Pursuit of Happyness — $5M
8. Pan’s Labyrinth — $4.75M
9. The Queen — $4M
10. The Hitcher — $3.6M
