As the world anxiously awaits the release of Uwe Boll’s Dungeon Siege movie, production is already underway on what may very well end up being his career-defining masterpiece, Postal. In case you didn’t know, the movie is based on a video game where you guide a character known as “Postal Dude” (played in the movie by Zack Ward) on a psychopathic killing spree around town, urinating on corpses as you go. It’s bloody and offensive as hell, but it’s also meant to be cartoony and satirical. It sounds like Boll is going all out on this one; someone at IGN got a look at the first twenty minutes of the film and reports that it is pretty damn shocking.

To give an idea of the film’s peculiar brand of hilarity, some of the scenes described involve Dave Foley (Kids in the Hall) as a cult leader wearing an “open robe” and taking a crap on camera, a schoolyard littered with bloody children, Osama Bin Laden cracking one-liners about 9/11, and Uwe Boll himself getting shot in the junk by Verne Troyer (aka Mini Me). I ran across some stills from the movie on the Brightlight Pictures website that would seem to confirm this. Now I don’t know about you guys, but this could be the first Uwe Boll movie I might actually pay money to see. Postal looks poised to completely redefine the concept of bad taste, not to mention, bad filmmaking. Unfortunately I have a feeling that the only way anyone will see it is if it leaks on the internet, because no theatre in North America is going to touch this with a ten foot pole! Hats off to you Dr. Boll, for attempting to broaden our horizons.
