I think there is a possibility that by the time we get these technologies one will already have 'won', or gained a permanent foothold. I don't really see one backing out just yet, so a minor advantage is probably all there's going to be. That being said, I couldn't care less about some of these titles. Pirates, Cars, Casino Royale? I don't need those. I already own Usual Suspects, Reservoir Dogs and Mr. and Mrs. Smith and I don't feel a need to see any of them in HD. Does Rambo need HD? There is probably going to be classics on either side though. I think that's just something you have to get over, if you're really craving this nicer picture that bad.
