Alvin and the Chipmunks Movie In The Works
Alvin and the Chipmunks have been around since the 50’s, the brainchild of a man named Ross Bagdasarian. I can only assume he got the idea by accidentally speeding up some music on his record player one day; they started out as solely as a fictional music group, but eventually earned their first animated series in the early 60’s. Since then there have been many different incarnations of Alvin, Simon and Theodore, but they have become some of the most recognizable cartoon characters of all time. And guess what? There’s never been an Alvin and the Chipmunks feature film… until now.
Moviehole reports that there is a new feature film in the works from 20th Century Fox, with Tim Hill (Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties, Muppets From Space) expected to direct. The Chipmunks themselves will be (of course) computer generated, while the rest of the film will be live action. The role of David Seville has yet to be cast, but word on the street is they’re looking for a comedian to fill his shoes. Tim Allen, I’m looking in your direction! Ross Bagdasarian’s son, Ross Bagdasarian Jr. is co-producing the film with Fox. Am I interested in this movie? Not really. But Alvin and the Chipmunks was one of my favourite shows as a kid and I suppose it’s about time we saw them on the big screen. Thoughts?

Again with the CGI, what’s wrong with using some traditional animation?

This is nuts.. I have one episode of this show on one of my VHS tapes (it’s just before the Dino-Riders episode “Krulos”!) where some guy pretends that he has invented some sort of irish wish-fulfiller. Didn’t really get me all excited, I had no idea this was a big show.
I’m not going to see this. They should do a live-action Dino-Riders movie instead!
