Lost Boys 2 Is A Go?
Ever since Buffy The Vampire Slayer went off the air and Joss Whedon decided to turn his attention to space westerns and female superheroes, people just haven’t had a reliable source to get their vampire fix from anymore. Clearly there are a lot of fanboys jonesin’ for more from this genre, which explains why Warner Bros have just greenlit a sequel to the 1987 Joel Schumacher classic The Lost Boys. But wait a minute, didn’t Schumacher just announce some sort of Nazi vampire movie a few months ago?
It turns out this sequel will go direct to DVD, and will likely have no involvement from Schumacher or any of the original cast members. It won’t even move forward with any of the long-rumoured sequel concepts like “The Lost Girls”, or the Frog Brothers spin-off. Instead, it will take place in Southern California and focus on surfing vampires! Okay, now I’m interested! Alas, I’m afraid The Lost Boys is a movie with a lot of hardcore fans, and they will not take kindly to such sacrilege. I’m talking about people like our good friend Mikie, who liked The Lost Boys so much that he actually typed out the entire script to the film… on a typewriter! What do you think… surfing vampires: yay or nay?

Surfing vampires could be fun but why bother connecting it to a 20 year old movie? I enjoyed The Lost Boys and don’t see any reason for this DVD sequel to be made. What they should do in typical post-modern fashion is combine The Lost Boys with Surf Ninjas and then you’d have vampire ninjas that would surf. Throw in a dash of Point Break and you’d be solid.

Posted by Matt on January 15th, 2007I’m pretty disappointed to hear this. This is my all time favorite movie.I always hoped that either they would have a great sequel(some of the original cast, back in santa carla,etc..)or nothing at all.If WB would care at all,I would seriously write them every day asking them to either make a good movie,or forget it.I dont think they realize how many fans that the original movie has.
Posted by Aaron Snider on January 23rd, 2007i just found out about this last night, and i got excited just wondering what it would be like with todays actors and stuff you know?.then i found out its going straight to dvd that sucks!.i dont have a good feeling about it at all.its probably not going to have the same atmosphere as the first.and what the above guy said.i dont think WB knows how many fans this movie has.
