Horror Directors Confirmed for Grindhouse Fake Trailer Interludes
It’s not like you need another reason to get excited about the upcoming Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez film Grindhouse, but I’m going to give it to you anyway. You may have heard that in order to complete the feel of an old grind house movie, they will have mock trailers for other fictional b-movies in between the two main features. I believe Tarantino himself is shooting a fake trailer for the movie They Call Him Machete starring Danny Trejo, but they have recruited at least 3 other well known cult horror directors to direct faux trailers as well. Among them: Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead), Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel), and Rob Zombie (House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects). Zombie’s trailer sounds the coolest so far; it’s for a movie called Werewolf Women of the S.S., reportedly starring Nicolas Cage as Fu Manchu!
As far as I’m concerned, these mock trailers are just another element of Grindhouse to look forward to. It’s gonna be great to see these directors to unleash their creativity within the confines of a short trailer. Once again, you’ve gotta hand it to Tarantino… the smartest people in the industry know how to surround themselves with talent, and he’s no exception. He cleverly avoids being shown up by these up and coming filmmakers by inviting them to collaborate instead!

That trailer does sound absolutely awesome… The Danny Trejo thing is a little stereotypical… It’s like Sam Jackson at times - he’s cool, we get it.
Nicolas Cage as Fu Manchu? I wish it was a real movie (though I guess that’s the point)!
