Trailer for Antoine Fuqua’s Shooter Now Online
A trailer has arrived for the new movie from Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, King Arthur) and although I haven’t been a big fan of any of his work thus far, I do think this one has potential. It’s called Shooter, and it stars Mark Wahlberg as a former secret service marksman who is brought back out of retirement to help stop a presidential assassination. The thing is, he ends up getting double-crossed and framed for the murder, and finds himself on the run from the powers that be.
My first thought is that this movie is somewhat reminiscent of The Bourne Identity (without the amnesia), but in watching the trailer I also picked up some hints of Rambo and Commando, as Wahlberg’s character starts the movie living in isolation and seems to be a man of the wilderness. Needless to say, if it can even come close to giving us the feel of those classic action movies, then it will be well worth checking out. I suspect, however, that it will focus a lot more on some sort of conspiracy plot and not enough on superhuman action sequences. Why not peep the trailer over at Yahoo! and give us your impressions?
