The Dukes of Hazzard Gets A Direct To Video Prequel

Hey remember that really crappy Dukes of Hazzard movie that somehow still managed to make its money back and then some? Well apparently someone over at Warner Bros thought it might be a good idea to go ahead and make a prequel, but without any of the stars from the first movie (except Willie Nelson that is). The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning will be a direct to DVD title starring April Scott as Daisy Duke, and Jonathan Bennett and Randy Wayne as Bo and Luke respectively. Long time TV director Robert Berlinger (Arrested Development, Gilmore Girls, Two and a Half Men) is at the helm.

Apparently this movie will be the first for the “Warner Premiere” line, which will release approximately 15 direct to video movies a year. Do we really need crap like this filling up store shelves and eventually falling in budget discount bins? No, we don’t. But as the last American Pie movie proved, you can make a lot of money off low budget sequels that are released direct to DVD. The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning hits stores on March 20, 2007.

  1. WHY?

  2. I’m always surprised what people rent at the video store. There must be some profit in direct to video sales otherwise studios wouldn’t bother.

  3. Well anything has to be better then that shit Dukes we got last time.
