I thought Alexandre Aja’s remake of Wes Craven’s The Hills Have Eyes was a pretty solid movie; if I had one complaint it would be that it was a little too faithful to the original, but I suppose it’s hard to fault him for that. A sequel is now in the works and German director Martin Weisz (Rohtenburg) is taking the reins this time around. Although I don’t have anything against Weisz (I don’t actually know anything about him), I just can’t get myself very excited about the project. If 2006 was the year of horror remakes, then 2007 will likely be the year of sequels to horror remakes, and that sounds pretty damn uninteresting to me. That said, a new teaser trailer for The Hills Have Eyes 2 has just gone online and I thought it was one of the most creative teasers I’ve seen in a long time. Yeah, it doesn’t show any actual footage from the movie itself, but still, I thought it was well done for what it is. Head over to IGN now and give it a look.
