Drop It: Robocop Remake Dead On Arrival
Well here’s another remake that thankfully seems to have been squashed before it had a chance to get off the ground. Apparently Sony was considering a redo of Paul Verhoeven’s Robocop, with all of the original cast and crew in talks to be involved. Somehow I have a hard time believing Verhoeven would have been interested, but apparently writer Edward Neumeier and executive producer Jon Davison were on board.
However, according to an anonymous scooper over at Bloody Disgusting, “the studio is no longer interested in the remake”. (I guess that explains why Neumeier is now helming Starship Troopers 3 instead.) Still, one would think it would have been an extremely pointless remake in the first place if all the same people were involved again. It’s nice to see common sense prevail for once in Hollywood!
