V For Vendetta: The Sequel
Over at Cinematical, they’re reporting on a strange rumour that Warner Bros are apparently considering a sequel to V For Vendetta. Now I really have a hard time believing this story for a few reasons. First of all, the source that they linked to in the post didn’t seem to have any mention of V For Vendetta in it. Second of all, I’ve read quotes from Joel Silver saying that this is a one-shot deal. Thirdly, and most importantly, I found another post on Dark Horizons about the exact same thing… the thing is, it was posted earlier this year on April Fool’s Day!
So if this story is true, it certainly says something about just how preposterous the idea really is. They’re supposedly considering it as a direct-to-DVD title, and none of the original cast and crew would be involved. Of course, the biggest problem with the whole thing is that V For Vendetta, unlike most comic book franchises, does not have more than one story. It’s a singular graphic novel, plain and simple, so they’d have to hire some hack screenwriter to tack on another story set in the V universe, which would just be sad. On the other hand, I could actually see it happening. They could put anyone behind that mask and slap on the V For Vendetta name… couldn’t they?

Well, just one question- as I loved the movie so much that I’d love a sequel… well, maybe a prequel of what V was up to pre-Evey would make more sense… but did “V for Vendetta” cover all 10 parts from the comic series?
Posted by Marie on May 18th, 2008Marie, the answer to your question is that the movie is less an adaptation and more a misunderstanding of the book.
But yeah I guess the movie superficially covers the events of the book up until the end.

Posted by Rusty James on May 18th, 2008Glad they are not making a sequal but was looking online just in case. The reason i say no is because “V” did all it had to do , It ended brilliant and i am glad someone is not going to ruin the story.
This has ended up as one of my all time favourite movies, so much so that it was on TV over the weekend and i watched it start to finish. 2 days later i am sitting with crap on the TV and checked what i had recorded and i watched the whole damn thing again which i never do with movies.
To me it is a unique piece of modern art as a movie. It deserves alot more love and respect then it got, V is just one of the greatest hero’s of all time to me now.
10/10
