Peter Jackson Might Still Direct The Hobbit?

Hey, remember a couple days ago when Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh launched that big PR blitz telling everyone that they won’t be doing The Hobbit? Well, it has turned into a real war of words, although it’s not that hard to cut through the BS and see what’s going on here. Basically, everyone still wants Peter Jackson on board, including Peter Jackson. This whole stupid ordeal is just a matter of positioning for the lawsuit between Wingnut Films and New Line.

After Peter Jackson sent his initial letter to TheOneRing.net, MGM quickly responded by saying that the matter was far from closed. Then a mysterious rumour popped up that MGM had been talking with Sam Raimi instead. Then Sir Ian McKellen chimed in with his two cents, stating that “It’s hard to imagine any other director matching his achievement in Tolkien country”. And now Saul Zaentz, owner of Tolkien Enterprises, has added even more confusion to the whole situation, stating that the rights to The Hobbit film will revert back to him next year, and that Peter Jackson will wait to deal with him instead. “It will definitely be shot by Peter Jackson. The question is only when.” Yeah, what he said. Seriously, everyone needs to stop getting worked up about this, it’s almost certainly a non-issue right now.

  1. WTF.

I just don’t care now. Until it’s for sure, I don’t care for the speculation.

  2. See, that’s what Peter Jackson is supposed to look like.

    Did he get fat again?

Just don’t make this movie. We don’t need yet another crappily directed, boring in style and visuals, 45-minute CGI fight without gore.

In the entire span of the lord of the rings movies, the only moment that gave me a bit of a thrill and excitement was the charge of those damned elephants in the last one. That was cool, untill they started having people snowboarding up and down their noses and whatnot.

  4. Cool, thanks Melissa!

  5. I bet he already has all the live action film in the can for the Hobbit. I would have when I have the actor playing Bilbo in flash backs and the dwarves also. All he really needs is the CG for, the tolles, the final battle, Smaug the dragon, and the treasure room. He already has the Gollum clips. I hope he does the “The Silmarillion” as one of the prequal movies.
