Trailer for Billy Ray’s Breach Hits The Web
Are spy movies making a comeback? I don’t know, maybe they never really left, but I am all for seeing more spies on the big screen. If Casino Royale is a success it can only help matters, but there is currently a pair of upcoming spy movies based on true stories.
First there is The Good Shepherd, a Robert DeNiro-directed film starring Matt Damon as Edward Wilson, an American spy who would play a key role in the birth of the C.I.A. Now there’s a new trailer up on Yahoo! for a movie called Breach, starring Chris Cooper as Robert Hanssen, an FBI agent who was accused of spying for the Soviets.
The problem I have with Breach is that it doesn’t seem to be staying true to its time period, and they are playing it up more as a thriller than anything else (granted, the director Billy Ray wrote Flightplan and Suspect Zero, so I guess that makes sense). Why can’t we have more spy movies that work as period pieces? I don’t get it. We’ve discussed before on the Film Junk podcast how every James Bond movie is always set in current day with the latest technology… how boring is that? Give me more 60’s espionage, that’s what the world has been missing lately. Breach co-stars Ryan Phillippe and Laura Linney and hits theatres on February 16th. Check out the trailer below.

i am looking forward to seeing The Good Sheppard for sure, i mean, its Bobby DeNiro. the other one i dont know about that one. as for the new Bond, i havent been a big fan of the series since Connery left, i mean some of the other ones were all right, but nothing compares to Sean Connery. and i have heard that this Daniel Craig might actually pull it off. we shall see about that one kids.
