I haven’t been terribly impressed with the feature length animated films that Marvel has been putting out so far. The first two Ultimate Avengers movies were okay but they didn’t do anything to justify their 75 minute running time. The animation was far too slick, and the stories were completely disposable. Now they’ve moved on to the next one, and it will be The Invincible Iron Man. I guess they’re hoping to build a little hype for the live action Iron Man movie with this, but if anyone actually sees this I’ll be surprised.

The Invincible Iron Man will be released direct to DVD with a handful of extra features that include an alternate opening, “The Origin of Iron Man” featurette, “The Hall of Iron Man Armour” featurette, and a first look at their next animated flick, Dr. Strange. It streets on January 23rd, 2007. Check out the trailer over at IGN now (linked below).
