Trailer for CGI Fairy Tale Flick Happily N’ever After

You know, it’s no wonder people have a hard time telling all the recent computer animated family films apart from one another. They’re all re-using the same ideas over and over again! Why can’t someone come up with an original idea anymore? We need more movies like Monster House out there, and less movies like… Happily N’ever After. This is yet another CGI fairy tale spoof, featuring the voices of Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., Andy Dick, Patrick Warburton, Sigourney Weaver and George Carlin. I guess it’s a retelling of Cinderella, with appearances from Little Red Riding Hood, The Seven Dwarves and Rapunzel, among others. As if Shrek wasn’t bad enough… do we really need Shrek knockoffs?

The animation is being done by the Berliner Film Companie, the same people who are doing the new Spaceballs animated series, and I have to say it looks pretty budget. Maybe they’re going for a minimalist style on purpose, but it doesn’t look visually appealing to me at all. Remember when every new CGI movie used to push the cutting edge of technology? Yeah, that sure isn’t happening anymore. Anyway, you can check out a trailer for the movie now over at MSN. I can tell you that I won’t be seeing this one. Will you? It hits theatres on January 5th.

  1. I love a good fairytale but this looks awful. I gave “hoodwinked” a try but I’m passing on this one.
