Wachowski Bros Confirmed for Speed Racer Movie
Looks like those rumours about the Wachowskis directing a live action Speed Racer film were not complete “bollocks” after all. It was announced today that the movie has been given a green light over at Warner Bros, and it will mark the first time the Wachowski Bros have been behind the camera since The Matrix trilogy. The project will find them reteaming with producer Joel Silver, executive producer Grant Hill, and The Matrix special effects guru John Gaeta. Apparently the Wachowskis did not want to tackle the project unless they could come up with a unique take on it, but now Silver says, “They are approaching these racing scenes in a way you’ve never seen before”. It will be a family friendly film of course, but it should be interesting to see what kind of creative visuals they can come up with this time around. Speed Racer will begin filming this summer, with a summer 2008 release date in mind. No word on whether or not Vince Vaughn will star (it was originally his project!).

What is this Speed Racer X ? I was hoping the Wachowski’s finish the, AXIS Dream movie ? What happened to the Dream Axis movie in development ?

Posted by Eikichi on July 10th, 2007Speed Racer will make a great feature film! I should know, I wrote an outline for it more than a decade ago and I’m wondering if someone who I had pitched it to pitched it to someone else. Does anyone know the complete title of the upcoming film?
