Another Street Fighter Movie In The Works
Who’s dying for more video game-to-movie news? Looks like there’s another Street Fighter flick on the horizon; this one’s being planned for the game’s 20th Anniversary, which will be in 2008. Alas Jean-Claude Van Damme will not be involved, and it won’t be live action either. Haven’t there already been a handful of Street Fighter anime films? I guess I’m probably not too interested either way, but going the animated route seems like a bit of a cop out to me. Hey, if Mortal Kombat was able to spawn a couple live action sequels, why not Street Fighter? The movie will reportedly focus on the game’s female character Chun Li, and will be written by Justin Parks — the same guy who is writing the script for that Voltron live action movie. Hyde Park Entertainment and Capcom will produce the movie jointly.

That move of Chun Li’s is AWESOME. I’d be into seeing this just to see that and the super highspeed kicks. Animated my ass. This needs to be live action man! And Lucy Liu should be given the tile role.
Posted by Marina on October 30th, 2006Marina have you watched the live action version as directed by Steven E. DeSouza?
It’s less than stellar, so I don’t think the chances of another live action Street Fighter are very big..
Posted by Henrik on October 30th, 2006I think all the producers and the directors of the first streetfighter movie should be flogged for destroying a movie that even a child would have given a better storyline.
Posted by charles on December 30th, 2007if they want to make another sf movie, they should take these steps
a. get producers/directors who are real fans of the sf universe.
b. get unknown actors to portray the videogame counterpaths(that way the audience will get the true feel of the movie)
c.get japanese choreograhers for the fights.
d.stick to the game storyline.
e.Last and not the least make E.Honda a strict disciplinarian and not a smiley jack assed clown!
