Trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s The Good German
Ever since Steven Soderbergh won a bunch of Oscars for directing Traffic, he’s been catapulted to fame. The interesting thing is that he’s gone on to use his fame to fund a lot of interesting and unique projects that a most other filmmakers wouldn’t dare touch, including Full Frontal, the remake of Solaris, and the simultaneous home video/theatrically released Bubble. He seems to be balancing these more experimental films with new installments in the Ocean’s Eleven series every couple of years.
Now a trailer has just gone online for Soderbergh’s latest film, and it actually finds an intersection between his commercial projects and art projects. The Good German is a black and white murder mystery that takes place in Berlin just after WWII, but it also stars some big names including Cate Blanchett, Tobey Maguire, and Soderbergh’s right hand man George Clooney. I think it looks breathtaking, although I have to wonder if maybe the music in the trailer is making it seem a little more action-packed than it really will be. Either way I am stoked to see this, and the best part is that it looks like it will be getting a wide release on November 22nd. Click below to check out the trailer for The Good German now.

Posted by Chopper on October 19th, 2006I think I heard about this movie a while ago, but forgot about it until this. Trailer looks excellent, and this just shot to the top of anticipated movies for me.
