Trailer for Goya’s Ghosts Directed by Milos Forman
Milos Forman is one of those directors who only puts out a movie every few years… so whenever he does have a new movie coming out, you have to take notice. His last film was all the way back in 1999: the Andy Kaufman biopic Man on the Moon starring Jim Carrey. He is probably best known for One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and Amadeus, however.
This year he will release Goya’s Ghosts, another biopic, this time about Spanish painter Francisco Goya, who lived during the time of the Spanish Inquisition. Goya painted for the Spanish royalty, but under French rule spoke out against censorship and other political issues and was labelled a heretic. The film stars Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd, Randy Quaid, and Natalie Portman (who, it appears, must undergo more torture like in V For Vendetta although she doesn’t shave her head this time…. boo). Anyway, I can’t find much info on the official release date, but the English trailer is now online over at YouTube and it looks pretty awesome. Watch it now via the link below.

natalie portman alone has won me to see this flick, i love her. forman is a great director for sure and i cant believe that Man on the Moon was his last flick until now. crazy!
Posted by Chopper on October 19th, 2006This film should be right up my alley… But I’m not a fan at all of Natalie Portman and the trailer made the movie look pretty Portman-centric. There’s a good chance that’s just a marketing trick though, since she is the bigger name.
Posted by Henrik on October 19th, 2006I’m a big fan of Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd – thought he was amazing in Good Will Hunting – but Milos Forman is a strange director. Amadeus is probably my favourite movie of all time, but everything I’ve seen by him has been less than stellar.
I’ll probably check this movie out though… I’m a sucker for people having a confrontation with their gods, and what paintings of Goya’s I’ve seen I’ve liked.
Everything ELSE. Amadeus is NOT less than stellar.
