Maxim’s Top Ten Horror Movie Deaths

The Evil DeadThe Season of the Witch is upon us and it looks like everyone has death on the brain. DEATH BRAIN. As you may remember, a few weeks ago we shared our top five most memorable film deaths on the Filmjunk Podcast. Well it looks like Maxim Magazine has posted their own list of top ten horror movie deaths on their website and overall I’d have to say it’s a pretty good list. I was happy to see John Carpenter’s The Thing at number 3, along with some pretty obvious fan favourites. (The Evil Dead, Scanners, Dead Alive). One of my picks also made it to the list; The brutal wood splinter through the eye scene from Lucio Fulci’s Zombie. Here’s a recap of my list in case you missed the show:

5. The Exorcist 3 – Giant Scissor Beheading
4. Friday the 13th 7: The New Blood – Sleeping Bag Death
3. Deep Blue Sea – Sam Jackson’s death
2. Zombie – Wood through eyeball
1. Jaws – Quint’s death

The number one spot on the Maxim list was a little bit of a surprise to me. It’s a cool death and all, but definitely not worthy of the first place spot. I’ll let you check it out for yourself. Just click on the link below and come back here and let us know what YOUR top ten horror deaths are!

  1. what about the omen beheading, that was nutty.

  2. That scene from The Thing they chose is crazy.

The Thing is the only movie on the list I’ve seen, even though I have Scanners on DVD, just havent watched it yet. But my favourite death in The Thing, and also the scariest in my opinion, is the scene where they chase the one guy out in the snow and get their first glimpse of what they’re dealing with. That scene is intense.
