Naomi Watts To Star In The Birds Remake?
Sounds like this Platinum Dunes remake of The Birds is picking up steam again, with rumours starting to swirl about a potential star. According to TMZ, they’ve offered the lead role to Naomi Watts, who is clearly no stranger to remakes (King Kong, The Ring). Word is that Universal wants to get a big name on board so that they can start getting the ball rolling… the thing is, I find it hard to believe a big name will sign on until you have a decent director lined up as well. The script for this remake was apparently written by Leslie Dixon (Look Who’s Talking Now, Mrs. Doubtfire, Freaky Friday). Hey, I’m not saying people can’t crossover into different genres but Dixon’s resume might seem to indicate that she’s not quite the right choice for a Hitchcock redo. Although I like Naomi Watts, I am getting bad vibes about this whole project and I kind of hope she simply keeps her distance from it.
