Weekly Poll Results: Most Memorable Movie Deaths
There are a lot of ways you can think about last week’s poll; you could base a memorable death on the significance of that death in a film, the emotional impact, or the method of dying. It’s nice to see that the Psycho shower scene ended up coming out on top, although it’s the obvious choice. And of course, Darth Vader at a close #2 from Return of the Jedi makes sense just because it was the climax of one of the most beloved trilogies of all time. Anyone surprised by any of these results? What spectacular movie deaths did we overlook?
1. Shower Scene in Psycho — 21.2%
2. Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi — 20.2%
3. Spock in Star Trek II — 13.5%
3. Mel Gibson in Braveheart — 13.5%
5. Jesus in The Passion of the Christ — 10.4%
6. Hans Gruber in Die Hard — 6.2%
7. Captain Rhodes in Day of the Dead — 5.2%
8. Kevin Spacey in American Beauty — 4.1%
8. Dennis Hopper in True Romance — 4.1%
10. Father Damien’s Suicide in The Exorcist — 1.6%

This is bad, I know but the death scene that sticks most with me is that of Dare Devil in the movie by the same bloody name.
I warned you that it was bad but that 10 minute death scene is SO bad, it overshadows everything else.
Posted by Marina on October 11th, 2006There are so many, I think I will be pretentious enough to put in an actual top 5 here:
1. Arnold Schwarzenegger shooting Sharon Stone between the eyes in Total Recall. “Consider that a divorce”.
Posted by Henrik on October 11th, 20062. General Kong in Dr. Strangelove or how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb.
3. Daniel Craig in Road to Perdition
4. The fat recruit in Full Metal Jacket (I can’t believe I forgot his name.)
5. Kevin Spacey in Se7en
