Tarantino/Rodriguez Grind House Trailer Footage Now Online
Holy crap… what a way to start your morning! Footage has hit the web from the upcoming collaboration between Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, Grind House. I guess this aired on Spike TV’s Scream awards last night, so it’s not quite the complete trailer but it still kicks ass in every way possible. I didn’t realize just how far they were planning to go with the style of these movies, right down to the purposely added film grain. It looks like there’s going to be plenty of gore and some crazy ideas that could only come from these two hot shot directors. What could be better than a chick with a gun for a leg? Ain’t It Cool News seem to think that the trailer is just for Planet Terror but I think there’s also footage from Death Proof in there as well. In particular it’s awesome to see Kurt Russell back in action like this again. What are you waiting for? Go watch it. Man, forget 300, this movie is going to blow everyone’s faces off.

Are you really that excited? It looks a bit lame I think… They’re trying too hard. When Robert Rodriguez uses computer effects it totally gives it all away.
To be honest I’m kind of losing faith in these guys. It’s been ten years since they did something I thought was actually a good movie and not just some bullshit experiment. Pulp Fiction, Desperado and Dusk till Dawn I like, but evrything else has been pretty bad. I haven’t seen Sin City though..
I think Tarantino needs to make another good original movie for me to jump back on these experiments. I thought Kill Bill was terrible to sit through.

Posted by Jay on October 11th, 2006No, that other link isn’t from the same movie, but it gives a good idea of the style they were going for.
Keep in mind, the term “Grind House” is actually a common way of referring to this genre of old low budget exploitation flicks.
Posted by Sean on October 11th, 2006They mentioned they were going to divide the movie with fake trailers like this — and it has serious production values and the guy from Candyman in this trailer — this is defintely from Grindhouse watch it again and see, they’ve been saying that they are making these fake trailers to divide up the sections of the Grindhouse movie!
Posted by Jay on October 11th, 2006Well I guess it is a 2006 movie… still not sure if it’s connected to the Tarantino/Rodriguez thing. I don’t think so.

Posted by Sean on October 11th, 2006Shadow Riot played at the Festival of Fear in 2005, so it’s definitely not a part of Tarantine and Rodriguez’ Grind House. That trailer is, as you suggested Sean, presented in such a way to emulate the historical grind house experience.
Posted by Steven on October 11th, 2006This will rule. And to think this is only one of TWO movies that will be shown.
Posted by Jay C. on October 11th, 2006Oh and another point I forgot to make (I feel like Columbo). I always thought that Dusk was pretty much a grind-house movie, and an honest one at that.
It might not have something as ridiculous as a gun for a leg, but it does have a guy playing a corpse as a guitar and a vampire that eventually turns into a giant rat. And that rat was done like a ‘grind house’-effect, old school puppet style. Like I said the computer effects feel really out of place.
