Snakes On A Plane DVD Announced, Japanese Trailer Online
Ever since Snakes On A Plane performed slightly below projections at the box office, I’ve been expecting a DVD announcement to come any day now — we all know home video is where a movie like this will truly shine. New Line Home Entertainment has finally issued the details for the Snakes On A Plane DVD, and the disappointing part is that it looks like it won’t be out in time for Christmas. Too bad, I was hoping for some Snakes in my Stocking. At any rate, there seem to be some decent features on the DVD, although there’s nothing completely creative and hilarious to make this DVD stand out. Here’s what it will offer:
- Audio commentary by Samuel L. Jackson and director David R. Ellis
- Deleted scenes with optional commentary by Ellis
- Cobra Starship music video
- Gag reel/outtakes
- “Pure Venom” – 18 minute Behind The Scenes Documentary
- “Snakes On A Blog” – 12 minute featurette about the fan buzz
- “Meet The Reptiles” – 12 minute featurette about the snakes
- Special Effects 5 minute featurette
- Easter Egg
I wish they would have done interviews with crazed fans, included fan films, or done something similar to the book Snakes on a Plane: The Guide to the Internet Ssssssensation.
On a related note, a trailer for the Japanese release of the movie has found its way online, and it’s pretty hilarious. This makes me wonder, could this movie actually be even better in foreign languages? The title in Japan is actually Snake Flight… almost as good as SOAP if you ask me. Only almost as good…
They totally should do a cross-over movie.
