Monday Morning Box Office Report: Oct. 2, 2006

Computer animated family films are still proving to be guaranteed money in the bank for studios, which is unfortunate because that means we’re going to have to continue to suffer through more of them. I guess I shouldn’t complain because hey, maybe Open Season is actually a decent flick… I just can’t tell them apart anymore. Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Costner also brought out some decent crowds with The Guardian, and the Jackass crew hung in at #3 this weekend with a decent $14 million second week. I was surprised to see that School For Scoundrels only managed 4th spot… I have a feeling that Jon Heder’s days as a bankable movie star are numbered.

1. Open Season — $23M
2. The Guardian — $17.7M
3. Jackass Number Two — $14M
4. School for Scoundrels — $9.11M
5. Fearless — $4.7M
6. Gridiron Gang — $4.5M
7. The Illusionist — $2.85M
8. Flyboys — $2.32M
9. The Black Dahlia — $2.07M
10. Little Miss Sunshine — $2.02M

  1. a double dose of crap in the top 2, ashton kutchner crap that is. i guess people were bored and wanted to see and hear a bad actor.

  2. It’s interesting to see ‘Little Miss Sunshines’ still in the top ten. On a $’s per-screen basis, it still seems to be doing better then some of the other films out there.
