Transformers Shoot Wraps, Jazz Character Design Leaked

Cinematical brings us news this week that principal photography on Michael Bay’s Transformers has wrapped as of last Sunday… which, of course, means very little with a movie like this. The majority of the on-screen action will actually be constructed in post production through the digital effects. Make no mistake, this is going to be one of the most CG-intensive movies ever created, and we’re probably still a long way off from seeing a trailer. There are, however, still a few brief scenes left to shoot in the “frozen north”. By that they mean Toronto, I’m assuming? ;)

It just so happens that this week we’ve also had another strategic leak of character designs from the film. This time around, TFW2005 have gotten their hands on the concept artwork for Autobot Jazz. I haven’t really been a fan of any of the character designs we’ve seen so far… it certainly seems like they’re playing up an anime feel, and I don’t understand why they have to make them so different from the original look in the cartoon. It just screams out Michael Bay rock and roll hipness. The strange thing with Jazz is that he almost resembles Shockwave with the shape of his head and the way the visor creates a singular eye. You can also see the Pontiac logo on his chest, since Jazz transforms into a Pontiac Solstice. Another thumbs down from me, what are your thoughts?

  1. The autobots look like the toy the kid wanted in One Hour Photo, and all of them have enormous feet.

I’m not judging, because I more or less stopped caring, but that’s what I see.

  2. i have to say that i have no interest in seeing this movie at all. i am sure that it will do good at the box office, but it wont be getting my deniros.
