Trailer for “Home Of The Brave” Starring Samuel L. Jackson
This one’s for all the people who think Samuel L. Jackson doesn’t do serious movies anymore. Home Of The Brave is about four American soldiers in Iraq whose unit is assigned one final humanitarian mission before returning home; they end up being ambushed and taking major losses. It’s not based on a true story as far as I can tell, but hey, I’m sure this kind of stuff happens all the time. Similar to Clint Eastwood’s Flags Of Our Fathers, the movie seems more interested in what happens after the soldiers return home, and how they deal with the physical and psychological trauma they sustained.
Now, here’s where they lost me: the movie stars Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Biel and 50 Cent. Yes, that’s right 50 Cent. As if Get Rich or Die Tryin’ didn’t try hard enough to portray him as an all-American hero, this is just taking things a bit too far. I don’t know if I can take any of these 3 lead actors seriously, and in a war drama that is a pretty big problem I’d say. Director Irwin Winkler is the same guy who did De-Lovely, Life As A House and… The Net. I’m not saying this movie is going to suck, but the cards are certainly not stacked in its favour. At any rate, it looks like the blatant Oscar bids are starting to roll in, right on schedule. Home Of The Brave hits theatres on Dec. 15th, check out the trailer now via the link below.

Seriously? They think they can get into the Oscar race? Wow. I’m a bit more understanding of Biel now that I’ve seen her in “The Illusionist” – she’s not fantastic but she’s not awful either but the fact that 50 cent is in this is enough to turn me right off. What does surprise me is the director. I wasn’t aware that the guy that did “The Net” which was a piece of crap, also did “De-Lovely” and “Life As A House” both of which I really enjoyed.
This movie has nothing to interest me.
