Meanwhile on The Documentary Blog…
As some of you may know, we’re big fans of documentaries here at Film Junk, and you may be wondering why our coverage of documentary film has all but disappeared. This is because we are now doing most of our writing about documentaries over on a separate site called The Documentary Blog! In order to keep you in the loop, I’m going to start doing regular Documentary Blog recap posts here on Film Junk. This will avoid duplicate posting, while also helping to inform some of the casual movie fans of what’s going on in the world of documentaries. We do recommend you check out The Documentary Blog on a regular basis though, as we are starting to include some cool exclusive features like special podcasts and interviews with filmmakers. Here are some of the recent posts:
Filmmaker Interview: Luke Meyer, Co-Director of Darkon
Review: The Boys of Baraka
Review: Koko: A Talking Gorilla

Podcast #2: Jay, Sean and Greg review When The Levees Broke

I’m a big fan of the documentary blog; it’s great to have a film related blog that takes a look a neglected area of filmmaking in terms of web coverage. Its easy to dismiss documentaries because the subject matter often seems uninteresting and lacks a hook to make you tune in, but once you start watching they are one of the most involving forms of filmmaking and can give you a great perspective on area’s of life you never gave a second thought to.
