Official Trailer for Eragon Hits The Web

A couple weeks ago there were reports of the Eragon trailer leaking online, but it was quickly pulled. There were also some crappy fan-made trailers floating around out there, further confusing matters. Today Fox has finally decided to grace us with the official trailer.

What is Eragon? It’s a fantasy film, based on the first book in the trilogy by Christopher Paolini, about a young farm boy with a destiny as a Dragon Rider. You know what, as generic as it sounds, I’m actually looking forward to this. I’m all for a new boom in fantasy movies, now that enough time has passed since The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I don’t know if I’m sold on the effects in this movie yet though… maybe it was just the choppy video playback but to me the dragons didn’t look much better than, say… Dragonheart. (As a side note, they totally should have gotten Sean Connery to voice one of the dragons.) The movie stars Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich and newcomer Edward Speleers, and it his theatres on December 15th. Check out the trailer now over at AOL Moviefone (linked below).

  1. i am really looking forward to seeing this as well. i dont know much about the series of books this movie is based on, but i am sure that it will do it justice.

  2. I’m looking forward to this. The books are supposed to be quite good (considering that the young man that wrote them started them at 15) but I have yet to get around to reading them. Regardless, this doesn’t take away from the fact that this looks like it’ll be a great movie.

  3. I love fantasy movies myself…the more quirkier, the better (dark crystal, willow). This may be good.
