Greg’s 2006 Toronto Film Fest Report: Day 5
Well…the work conference was alright. Lots of meetings. Lots of free stuff. Some bands played. Stabilo – they were o.k. Alexisonfire – I’m not really a fan. Lupe Fiasco – hip hop artist on the rise. He was really, really good. Keisha Chante – had some back up dancers. The whole thing with her was hysterically funny. It was not supposed to be funny. She also is about 4′10″ and has a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge head. F’n weird. Ill Scarlett – remember Sublime? Same band…but not good. Closing off was Priestess. A metal band. Fucking awesome. Blew me away. Oh…also 20th Century Fox has a big showcase revolving around the release of X-Men: The Last Stand on DVD. There was a woman in blue paint. Just blue paint. Maybe some small quarter sized pieces of material covering various parts, but that is still up for debate. She also had yellow contacts and played the role of Mystique very well. Too well actually. Scared the bejezzus out of me.
Anyway…enough of that.
Right before I left for conference I was able to catch a screening of For Your Consideration. The new film from Christopher Guest. It’s along the same lines as Waiting For Guffman, Best In Show and A Mighty Wind. Hilarious. Just hilarious. Same group of actors. Eugene Levy, Catherine O’ Hara, Parker Posey, Harry Shearer, Michael McKean and Fred Ward. I could watch Eugene Levy, Parker Posey and Fred Ward all day. The film is set on the production of another film where many of the main cast are gathering Oscar buzz and it’s a parody of the ridiculousness of the media, entertainment shows and actors in regards to the Academy Awards. The talk shows, the press conferences all the hype. It’s done really well and the movie is just so funny. The director and most of the cast attended the screening and it’s amazing…I just look at Eugene Levy and I laugh. Seriously….check this film out. Especially, if you’ve seen any of Christopher Guest’s other films.
Alright…tonight should be good. Fay Grim, directed by Hal Hartley and a double feature of Hong Kong action film director Johnnie To’s films. Election and Election 2. Sweet.
I remain

I think you mean Fred Willard. Fred Ward, is famous in his own right for defeating graboids and playing Remo Williams in Remo Williams The Adventure Begins.
Posted by ToliverChap on September 14th, 2006I personally dislike Mr. Levy mostly for the fact that he is ugly and unfunny.
Posted by Baychuk on September 14th, 2006Ugly? Come on Tom, Mr. Levy is a handsome man.
Posted by Sean on September 14th, 2006I wouldn’t say that Levy was a handsome man (to each his own…) but I think he’s very funny.
Posted by themarina on September 14th, 2006Too me handsome are guys like Harrison Ford and Pierce Bronsan.
