Bryan Singer Goes Horror With Trick Or Treat

It seems like everyone and their mother wants in on the horror trend right now, and now X-Men/Superman Returns director Bryan Singer will be the next to dive into the already overcrowded genre. According to Bloody Disgusting, Warner Bros are working out a deal to produce Bryan Singer’s Trick or Treat, a horror movie that will be written and directed by Superman Returns scribe Michael Dougherty.

Alright, now first off, the movie appears to have no relation to the 80’s cult film Trick or Treat, about a teenager who plays a heavy metal record backwards to resurrect a dead rock star… which is a damn shame. Secondly, what’s with the “Bryan Singer’s” caption in front of the title? Who does he think he is… M. Night Shyamalan? I don’t know that Singer or Dougherty have proven themselves capable of any great horror or suspense films; Dougherty previously wrote the direct to video Urban Legends: Bloody Mary, and Singer’s Apt Pupil is the closest to being considered horror (it could also be considered “horrible”, but maybe that’s just me). Trick or Treat apparently already has a release date of October 5th, 2007. We’ll have more as it develops.

(Interesting trivia: Bryan Singer made a cameo appearance in Star Trek Nemesis.)

  2. Ola, regular reader with some updates.

Just as a heads up the report is not correst. The studio is wrong, the film title is wrong, Bryan is not directing and Warner is not doing it. The people making the film emailed me last night with the correct details. :)
