North American Trailer for Casino Royale Hits The Web
Little known fact: I was named after Sean Connery, which pretty much makes me a James Bond fan by default. However, like most people, I lost interest in the franchise throughout the 90’s when the Pierce Brosnan films basically turned 007 into a big joke. Not that it was Brosnan’s fault or anything… and to be fair, it would have been difficult for anyone to make cool spy movies after the Cold War ended. Now that Casino Royale is approaching, I am finding myself getting slightly interested again. I do have my doubts about Daniel Craig since he doesn’t really look the part (check out the pic I used for this post), but at this point I think any change is a good thing.
This is why, conversely, I am not overly excited about Goldeneye director Martin Campbell taking the reins again. If you want to shake things up, get someone completely fresh in there! I still would have loved to see Tarantino’s take on it, no matter how flashy he wanted to be. Anyway, the North American trailer for the movie has finally gone online. There isn’t a heck of a lot of new footage so it was a little underwhelming, but I still remain cautiously optimistic. Thoughts? Casino Royale hits theatres on November 17th.

I dont know. It will probably be huge here though, Mads Mikkelsen who plays the villain is the biggest actor we got. And he is a very good actor, so I’ll see it just to see if he holds up internationally as well.
I liked tomorrow never dies, but every other Bond movie I’ve sat through has bored me.
Being named after Sean Connery is pretty badass though.
Posted by Henrik on September 7th, 2006I agree about Craig he seems like a cool actor and all but the source material on this Bond story, what might make it cool as a “restart”, is a Flemming novel where Bond is supposed to be young. From a trailer I’ve seen it looks like they are opting for that rookie Bond storyline but Craig just doesn’t look young enough so it seems odd.

Posted by Baychuk on September 8th, 2006well i did know that you were named after the greatest bond actor of all time. no one will be as great as connery in the role of bond. i really dont think that Craig will be good as bond, but you never know, i will give it a chance. i really think that Jason Stratham or even Clive Owen would have been my pick.

As for this new Bond flick…I’ve never been a big fan of the fanchise (though I will say that Connery was THE BEST Bond ever) however, after seeing the trailer, I’m sold. I’m really looking forward to seeing this – good or bad.
