Wedding Crashers: The Reality Show
Ever since the success of last year’s Vince Vaughn/Owen Wilson comedy Wedding Crashers, I’ve wondered if it may actually start inspiring more people to crash weddings in real life. Well now it looks like the concept is about to spill over into the realm of TV. But wait… it’s not what you think! This isn’t going to be some lame ass sitcom where second-rate actors take over for Vaughn and Wilson and run the concept into the ground. Nope, instead New Line, Ashton Kutcher and his buddies at Katalyst Films will use the movie as a launching point for a new prank reality show in the vein of Punk’d. A group of improv actors will cause havoc at real weddings that they weren’t invited to, and before you feel sorry for the unsuspecting bride and grooms, take note: the idea is “not to embarrass the bride and groom but rather unleash a series of comic stunts and pranks that will make the event memorable for them and their guests”. Riiiight.
As much as I question the “good intentions” behind this show, I’ll still watch as long as there’s a chance I get to see some bawling bridezillas. They should get that guy who starred on My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance. Six hour-long episodes have been ordered by NBC as a possible 2007 midseason replacement. Jon Kroll (Amish in the City) will executive produce.

Horrible idea. I can’t believe this would be legal.
