The Screening: G. Cameron Romero’s First Feature Film

I’m sure we’ve all heard the term “the apple didn’t fall far from the tree”, but what is it about horror directors in particular that always seems to make their work a family affair? John Landis worked with his son Max on his Masters of Horror episode “Deer Woman”, John Carpenter’s son Cody is continuing on his dad’s legacy as a film composer, and now George Romero’s son is directing a feature film called The Screening. G. Cameron Romero’s directorial debut seems a bit similar to The Ring, in that it’s about a fictional director from the early 1900’s whose movies are so powerful that they have a horrific effect on anyone who watches them. The movie is currently in post-production, and over at the official MySpace page, Cameron Romero had this to say about the project: “The best way to describe it is a brutal mind f**k. Great gore. Crazy visuals and some mind numbing sound design.” You can check out the first trailer now over at The Screening’s official website.

  1. could be interesting, but if it is being compared to the ring, i didnt really like that at all. i will check it out though.

  2. Sounds like John Carpenter’s Masters of Horror episode, Cigarette Burns, which in turn is just like John Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness…which ALL comes back to H.P. Lovecraft.

  3. If he’s anywhere near as talented as Dad, he may be one to watch.
